Steamed Edamame with Sea Salt
Why it helps
Edamame combines plant protein and fibre in one food, a pairing that can help slow digestion and support more stable blood sugar levels compared to refined snacks. It also provides folate, magnesium, and potassium. This simple snack fits well into a balanced dietary pattern and can be a useful swap for more processed, salty snack options.
Ingredients
2 cups frozen edamame, in pods
1 teaspoon sea salt
Water, for steaming
Methods
Bring a pot of water to a boil, or fill a steamer basket with water.
Add the frozen edamame pods and steam or boil for 5 to 6 minutes, until heated through and tender.
Drain well and transfer to a serving bowl.
Sprinkle with sea salt while still warm, tossing to coat evenly.
Serve warm, squeezing the beans out of the pods to eat.
